International marketing taught by Italian expert

Professor Rodolfo Musco visited GSEM again

In late April, professor Rodolfo Musco from Italy came to the university to teach a module within the framework of the course «International Marketing» for students of the programme «International Economics and Business». Professor has been cooperating with IEB programme and Graduate School of Economics and Management UrFU for 6 years, addressing students as a visiting professor annually as well as holding master classes for GSEM employees and corporate partners.

In the framework of his module, Prof. Musko’s students got acquainted with the types of marketing strategies of companies in the global market and learned how to make and justify decisions in the area of ​​implementation of international marketing strategies.

«My approach to teaching is firstly to allow students try to solve the problem, and only then to explain the theory. It is important to stop perceiving students as children and move from pedagogy as teaching children to andragogy as to adult learning technologies», professor Musko says.

The uniqueness of professor Musko's module is its combining with materials in the field of international management and meeting management, including such business events as conferences, incentive travel and others. Currently MICE* (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) area is one of the most dynamic spheres of the global economy, requiring from the experts a wide range of competencies and knowledge.

«It is very important to expand the boundaries of students knowledge and give them cases that allow to look at the world from different perspectives, go beyond regional and national thinking», professor Musko notes.

In addition to classes with students, this year professor Musko gave a lecture on the topic «Meetings, Marketing and World Economy Enhancement» for the participants of Russian Forum of Young Scientists. The speaker impressed participants so much that a queue for questions and photographs lined up to him. On a separate occasion, professor Musko showed his cooking skills and held a master class on cooking real Italian pasta.
