Ex-Minister of Economic Development of Russia held a meeting with university students
The Academic Supervisor of NRU HSE, Ex-Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Evgeny Yasin spoke about the economic situation in Russia over the past 20 years: what problems the government faced in those years and when the crisis is over in Russia. He held a meeting-dialogue with students and faculty in the new building of UrFU Graduate School of Economics and Management.
«If the activity of citizens increases, then the activity of business rises and there is more trust. Evgeny Yasin thinks that this is the beginning of the economic recovery. — I'll tell you about the "triangle of values" that I brought out. We take the most important value — freedom. What is needed to ensure that freedom does not become an obstacle to the lives of others? — Justice. What do you need in addition to freedom? Responsibility of people, citizens, who assume obligations and fulfill them. The consequence of the fact that there are freedom and responsibility in the pair — there is trust for example, within the business community in partners, in employees of employees in entrepreneurs and in the state. If there is no freedom and no responsibility, there is no trust. This system does not line up».
According to the expert, it is extremely important to understand that in order to manifest the «triangle of values», in society changes in people and citizens are needed.
Evgeny Yasin states that we want not so much freedom as such, because freedom is necessarily connected with some restrictions, and this is a matter of responsibility.
«I believe that we will still implement reforms; we need to learn to have freedom with responsibility, with trust. But when it will be, I can not say. Depends on our efforts. I came to Ekaterinburg, because I have a firm belief that the capital of the Urals is a major democratic centre in Russia».
According to the research results, the Russian economy in a state of stagnation, the signs of which were outlined in 2012 and were the result of political events of the end of 2011. In the next couple of years, four scenarios of development can be realized in the country: inertial, mobilization, decisive leap and gradual democratic development.
Note that the meeting-dialogue is one of the events of the XII international conference "Russian regions in the Focus of changes", which was held in UrFU on November 16-18.
