Demanded competencies of international economists were developed by students from more than 100 countries around the world within the framework of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students
Within the framework of the Festival, key partners of International Economics and Business programme conducted trainings for students.
The participants of the regional programme of the World Festival of Youth and Students — students and graduates from 75 countries of the world learned to present themselves on the global labour market in the digital economy.
The head of the programme, Associate Professor, PhD, Zhanna S. Belyaeva and the Head of Regional Development of PWC in Russia Maxim I. Matsiborko told the students how to properly present themselves to get the desired position in a global company.
«World-class research confirms the hypothesis of the growing demand for soft skills in the digital world. Ability to make decisions in a changeable business environment is an important competitive advantage of a person over artificial intelligence. At the same time, qualitative analytical education is the basic necessary level of a graduate. Today, young people are trying to sell themselves in the labour market, given those complex external conditions» — told Zhanna S. Belyaeva. She noted that the participants would benefit from the skills for the correct positioning of their country in the world labour market.
«The students asked the right questions, the hall is full of energy. Surprisingly, within the game, most of the participants in the master class demonstrated readiness for change and the most sought-after competencies that PwC identified in the world study of SARATOGA» — added Maxim I. Matsiborko.
A master class «Cross-Cultural Competencies for Graduates and the International Knowledge Transfer» was held in Sochi, within the framework of the programme «Future of Science and Global Education», organized by UrFU and the Charitable Foundation «Sistema». Zhanna Belyaeva moderated the discussion of business and academia representatives from five countries. She noted that each of the participants, including the moderator, have rich experience of working in several countries. Is it obligatory to study economics, management or electrical energy industry or is it sufficient to possess only soft skills; How Russian business is perceived by foreigners and how to build a career, given the cultural differences of colleagues, — these were the topics for discussion by experts in this field.
Participants of the event could not only listen to the opinion of experts, but also participate in a small training: in seven minutes, the participants received new knowledge from peers from around the world about themselves and their countries. In particular, the students learned about the third language in Algeria, got acquainted with the difficulties of social entrepreneurs from Bulgaria and appreciated the potential of entrepreneurs from India. Many participants planned a visit to the international Autumn School of GSEM, which is traditionally organised in November by the programme International Economics and Business.
