Last Tuesday students enrolled in the BA «International Economics and Business» have learned what does «X vs Y» mean and how it is connected with the University of Navarra
How often do you check your mailbox or profile in the social network? And what about Instagram? Do you find it difficult to answer because it has become an essential part of your everyday life? If so, then likely you belong to the generation «Y» or «Millennial Generation».
Today these people who were born in the period from 1980 to 2000 or millennials are very active: study at universities, run a business or work in international corporations. They create the future, break stereotypes and think out of the box. Best employers and experienced headhunters dream of getting talented representatives of «Next» generation.
Even though the question of who are millennials and what they want is very popular nowadays most employers still do not have a clear idea of the system of their values and views on life. A lack of understanding of the true motives and hence the tools of motivation of «network» generation in a few years may complicate the development of modern society.
Facing a challenge Ural Federal University decided not to stay aside. In March 2018 within the program «International Economics and Business» there was a meeting with the representative of the University of Navarra in Russia, Magdalena Gaete. She helped students-millennials get to know themselves better and understand the attitude of the surrounding people towards them.
«Millennials are a few steps ahead of the «X» generation. They will change our world only for the better: get rid of irrelevant and out-of-date principles; pave the way to the bright future, where everyone will find their place. I also would like to note the enthusiasm of our speaker Magdalena Gaete. It was the first time, when I saw such interest in the eyes of all students» — said the third year student enrolled in the BA «International Economics and Business», Vladislav Muravev.
Students discussed the differences in the world view of «Х» and «Y» generations and possible ways of effective cooperation between them. They were also told about new trends in the professional world and the most necessary soft skills for millennials in the near future.
