Leading Russian business school representatives met in Ural Federal University
Timothy Meskon, AACSB Executive Vice President and Coordinating Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa, told what requirements business schools have meet in order to receive international accreditation by the Association for the Development of University Business Schools (AACSB International).
‘So far, there are no organizations in Russia accredited according to this program, but there are business schools that are keen to do so,’ Lyudmila Pliner, UrFU Graduate School of Economics and Management Center for International Cooperation Director explains. ‘The AACSB Accreditation Seminar, which took place here, is held in Russia for the first time ever. For us, this is a good opportunity not only to learn about the requirements and criteria of the association, but also to meet on one platform with representatives of leading Russian business schools to discuss the details of accreditation.’
Acquiring AACSB International Accreditation confirms a business school’s compliance with global educational standards and gives its students competitive advantage when seeking opportunities for employment in international companies.
Note that AACSB International was founded in 1916 in the United States. The founders of the organization include 17 American universities and colleges, including Columbia, Harvard, New York, Illinois, Chicago universities and UC Berkeley. Today, the association consists of more than 1.6 thousand organizations. More than 800 business schools in more than 100 countries are accredited by AACSB.
The AACSB International Business Accreditation Seminar at UrFU is one of the events of the XIII International Conference “Russian Regions in the Focus of Change”. The conference on regional development, the participants being the executive branch, academic community representatives, managers of medium-sized businesses and large industrial enterprises in Russia, was held on November 15–17, organized by Ural Federal University and the “Expert” analytical center.
