The most grants for research were provided to UrFU’s humanities scholars
Within three years, 28 researchers of the Ural Federal University will receive support from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) for the implementation of their projects. The Graduate School of Economics and Management received 3 grants. Each grant will amount to from 700 thousand to 1 million rubles a year.
‘This support and recognition of our researchers is important: their work is at a high level on a nationwide scale,’ Vladimir Kruzhaev, the Vice-Rector for Research, says. ‘The key feature of the competition was such a great success of the humanities, social and political sciences scholars, who managed to get three-quarters of all grants collectively. The growth in the number of publications in scientific journals indexed in the Scopus and WoS databases, by researchers from these institutes, played an important role [in their success]. Practice has shown that having such publications significantly increases the chances of receiving grants.’
Mind you, the main objective of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research is to conduct a competitive selection of the best research projects from among those that are presented to the foundation by researchers upon their own initiative, and the subsequent organizational and financial support for the projects selected. The main goal of the basic research sector development is to ensure the leading positions of Russian basic science on the global stage.
