How to Detect Business Fraud — Lecture by PwC

Director for Audit Aleksey Rusanov gave an interactive lecture for students of international economics and business

Aleksey Rusanov, Director for Audit at PwC in Ekaterinburg, gave an interactive lecture in English for bachelor students of the programme International Economics and Business.

PwC is one of the big four leading companies on the global market of audit and consulting. The company was established more than 160 years ago, for over 10 years it has an office in Ekaterinburg providing services in audit, tax assessment and law for public and private companies in different areas.

Anait Petrosyan, a 3-year student, commented:

“The lecture was very involving and interesting. We leant about different kinds of fraud, how to detect them, what are their consequences. I especially liked the facts and practical examples. Aleksey also told us about the company PwC, its business dimensions, projects for students, internships opportunities and Summer Academic of Audit”.

The students had an opportunity to study real cases from the companies’ practice, to learn about theoretical and practical aspects of fraud detection. Furthermore, they discussed the reasons for economic fraud and how to look for evidence of such activities in production and financial companies.

Every year several graduates of International Economics and Business programme have their internships at PwC in Ekaterinburg, as well as get employed in various offices of the company all over the world.

Students from France who have come to study for a double degree at the programme International Economics and Business were also glad to meet and ask questions on business valuation directly to the corporate representatives. Romeo Arosteguy noted that the class was really interactive, which allowed for deeper understanding of the peculiarities of assets manipulation. Another student, Armand Garcin thought that the examples from the lector’s personal experience were particularly valuable for understanding an auditor’s actions in international cases.
