On March 11, 2019, a foresight session “Perspective directions of economic research in the Ural Federal District” was held at the Presidential Center of B. N. Yeltsin. The purpose of the session was to determine the priority areas of regional research in the economic sphere of the Ural Federal District in the long term to 2030.
The session was organized by the Institute of Economics, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Graduate School of Economics and Management, Ural State University of Economics. Members of the Russian Division RSA took an active part in the foresight session. Lead foresight session — Vice-President of the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Daniel Mazurovsky. Ksenia Danilova, Ekaterina Syrvacheva, Karina Golovanova, Nikita Teplyakov, Leonid Sitrakov, Savin Denis formed a team that took part in the foresight session.
The venue for the session was the «Tochka kipeniya», opened in Yekaterinburg by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. Forsight was held in a brainstorming format, participants were students, young scientists, representatives of government and business. At the end of the session, a time map was drawn up, on which the main trends, threats and opportunities were displayed; images of the inevitable and desirable future of regional studies in the Urals Federal District. The results of the joint work at the Foresight Session will be used in updating the papers defining promising areas of research.
