On November 14, the economics lecture series of GSEM UrFU By the Market Rules was launched at the Yeltsin Center

Wladimir Andreff, a renowned international researcher of sport economics, became the first speaker of the economics lecture series.
In 2023, Ekaterinburg will host the XXXII Summer Universiade. From the economic viewpoint, three key issues are of the utmost importance in such large-scale events: costs and overspending, socio-economic influence on territories development and use of infrastructure in the future. The expert told about about the criteria we can use to assess the results of sport mega-events, benefactors, multiplier effects, and success stories of the cities that used the Olympic Games as a development driver. Prof. Andreff also gave some recommendation on the issues that Ekaterinburg should consider when preparing for the Universiade-2023.
Wladimir Andreff is Professor Emeritus at the University Paris Pantheon Sorbonne (France), Researcher at the Centre d'Economie de la Sorbonne; Honorary President of the International Association of Sport Economists (IASE) and the European Sport Economics Association (ESEA), a consultant of ministries of sports in France, Russia, Slovenia, etc. He developed a number of legacy concepts of big sports events, was a member of the working group on development and implementation of financial fair play at UEFA.
The series «By the Market Rules. UrFU Economics Lecture Series at the Yeltsin Center» includes public lectures by famous economists and civic leaders, researchers and professors of economics; a discussion platform for the topical issues in the field of economics, management, finance, entrepreneurship. The project is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of economics education in the Urals and the 100th anniversary of Ural Federal University.
