The International Economics and Business students analysed digital business models with professor from Germany
JProf. Dr. Dominik Kanbach from the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management (Germany) gave practical skills to students of the International Economics and Business programme in the module "Digital Business Models". The module's lectures and workshops are aimed at providing students with a fundamental understanding of the major technological advances affecting industries and society in the era of digital transformation.
Dominik Kanbach told students about the relevance of technologies in the modern world, digital business models and strategies, platform solutions, innovations and corporate accelerators. The discussion of WeChat and TikTok cases made it possible to analyse the process of introducing innovations and using specific digital tools in the most interesting way, for example, how artificial intelligence creates a value proposition. International students from Russia, France, Mexico have acquired deep and applicable competencies in understanding and applying these new technologies in the context of developing and transforming digital business models.
Professor Dominik Kanbach noted:
«The course “Digital Business Models” covers highly relevant topics for future international leaders: How to build and scale successful business models in the digital world. Through the tremendous technological growth in recent years, many opportunities for new business models emerge – for both starting a new company or transforming an existing one. Understanding the underlying principles, methodologies and how to apply those is therefore an important prerequisite for successful future business leaders. It is great that the IEB programme integrates a course on this topic in their curriculum to equip their students with the required competencies for future success. Teaching at GSEM is a great pleasure as there is an active, diverse and international student body with high levels of talent and motivation. Therefore, students work hard in the course and achieve great results in a short amount of time! An important learning that students shall take away from the course is to understand the constant change in our world as a great entrepreneurial opportunity: Being open for new developments, understanding them and taking action to build a new business seizing these upcoming opportunities. This is exactly the mindset that enables future success!»
4th year students of the IEB programme showed great interest in the topic of the module and shared positive feedback.
«I am very pleased with the training on the IEB programme. In particular, lecturers by Professor Kanbach were very dynamic and interactive. The professor gave us applied knowledge, we looked at several cases, thanks to this we were able to see the application of theory and its connection with reality» - Felix Bueno Pascual, exchange student (Mexico).
