GSEM students had their first Professional Orientation classes in the spring semester
Newbies of International Economics and Business programme took an active part in interesting lectures and useful master classes from leading teachers and key corporate partners.
International Economics and Business programme Lecturer, Senior Researcher, Professor Kazi Sohag discussed with the students "Prospects and Challenges of Russian Business and Economy Achieving National Development Goals 2030 underpinning the context of future hydrocarbon economy; SDGs; Pandemic; & Geopolitical turmoil." Professor notes:
Students freely exchanged their scholarly views and proposition concerning the Russian’s stand to achieve National Development Goals in spurring quality of life, quality education, decent jobs opportunity, higher economic growth, and a better environment.
Sofia Voinovich, coordinator of special projects of the LAD Center, analyzed real cases with students on organizing Ural Music Night and other significant projects of the center. Students actively generated ideas in teams and were interested in internships. Sofia shares her impressions:
We had a great job in teams. Even if the students did not know something from the music field, they quickly searched on the Internet and generated different ideas. I find it useful to meet practitioners, this is good networking.
Student Anna Kontoboytseva (Group 103629) shared her positive emotions from the classes:
Kazi Sohag's presentation was full of topical statistics and showed that there are still many global problems in the world that we still have to solve. The presentation of the material was at the highest level and left important thoughts both about us and about the world around us. Sofia Voinovich's lecture personally helped me to discover new facets of volunteering and organizational activity. Our speaker was able to completely turn my mind about this topic so much that I have already made a decision and are taking the first steps in order to start cooperating with them. Searching for sponsors, grants, interacting with the embassies of all countries, communicating with musicians and organizing venues for various kinds of events - this is incredibly interesting and exciting!
As students say, attending the elective Professional Orientation course opens new doors and gives them many opportunities and already now, in their first year, begin to acquire the skills that they will need in the future in their profession. For future graduates of International Economics and Business programme, it is critically important to be able to build communication with completely different people working in various fields, as well as to constantly improve their language skills.
On the International Economics and Business programme from 1 semester, English-language practice-oriented courses are being implemented.
