professional life hacks for International Economics students at GSEM
Deloitte CIS delivered a hands-on training session for international economics students.
Yulia Aprelskaya and Ekaterina Avdonina, specialists from Deloitte CIS, delivered a series of training sessions for third year students of the International Economics and Business programme. The speakers gave practical advice on writing and designing CVs, talked about interview etiquette and highlighted the essentials of self-presentation. The experts also touched on the topic of team building and looked at ways of organizing effective teamwork – a key soft skill every future global leader needs in their toolkit. Yulia and Ekaterina invited students to play a professional game in which students got the chance to take on different roles within a team.
"We always love sharing our professional experience, delivering training sessions in-person and having that face-to-face communication,” said Yulia Aprelskaya. “We hope that our experience will be useful, and that the students and graduates will be able to apply the knowledge gained in the real world. We wish the students every success in their studies and the graduates every success in their careers!”
Students learned about the various types of interview they may encounter and how to properly prepare for them, developed new skills and gained insights into the secrets of successful self-presentation. They also practiced team-building skills and learned how to prioritise tasks effectively in joint projects. The students asked Deloitte CIS experts a wide range of questions about employment and careers during the sessions.
"I really enjoyed the Deloitte workshops. They helped me learn a lot of new things about writing a successful CV. The experts shared some life hacks that will help us stand out at interview. We also explored the various roles people play within a team. We did an improv scene to help us gain a better understanding of the importance of each role, where each participant tried to describe his or her role in the team" – said Roman Akhmineev, a third year student of the programme.
Leading Russia and international companies support GSEM’s International Economics and Business programme by delivering professional training sessions aimed at improving students’ key competencies to give them the tools they need to find employment, build their careers and make decisions in a rapidly changing world.
