Scientific studies were presented by Russian and foreign researchers at the section of the "International Economics and Business" Programme
The panel discussion “Digitalization and Sustainable development of the International economy” was held within the framework of the XVI International Conference "Russian Regions in the Focus of Change" under the leadership of Zhanna Belyaeva, PhD, GSEM Academic Director, BA International Economics and Business Programme director.
Scientific studies of a wide range of economic areas were presented by Russian and foreign researchers in online mode. Novice and already experienced researchers raised questions related to the impact of the pandemic on the development of the digital economy, discussed the consumption of renewable energy sources, assessed the digital maturity of regions and the development of smart cities, revealed aspects of online education and academic mobility, discussed issues of gender equality, calculated the effects of the implementation of cross-cutting technologies such as artificial intelligence, internet of things. The conclusions of the presented works are based on qualitative and quantitative data and tested in different regions of the world.
Members of the international academic jury, including Programme director Zhanna Belyaeva, Professors of the IEB Programme Elena Frolova and Natalia Davidson, Senior Lecturer Alexander Ishukov and Assistant Lecturer Yana Lopatkova asked constructive questions and provided useful recommendations. The experts noted the following works:
1st place - Valentin Tyazhelnikov, "Impact of the consumption of renewable energy sources on economic growth in OECD countries, Master Student (GSEM), graduate of the IEB Programme
2nd place - Alejandra Yakovenko, "Artificial intelligence ways of application in trading enterprises", Master's student, University of the Republic (Uruguay)
3rd place - Anastasia Rezhetskaya and Marina Baranova, "Assessment of the digital maturity of regions as a tool for digital transformation of public administration", students (GSEM)
The experts also highly commended the reports of the junior students of the International Economics and Business Programme: Alexander Poroshin, Evgeniya Shakiryanova (1st year), Polina Kosterina, Ulyana Bogdanova and Matvey Vasheka (2nd year).
All the works presented are recommended for publication, students will receive certificates for their CV. We wish the participants new victories and scientific discoveries!
