The results of the analytics were presented at the section of the bachelor’s programme "International Economics and Business " as part of GSEM international conference "Spring Research Days "
On April 21, the section "Analytics and the effects of geo-economic shocks on the global economy: business, digitalization, sustainable development, education" was held. The moderator of the section was Zhanna Belyaeva, GSEM academic director, Head of the bachelor’s programme " International Economics and Business ". Constructive questions were asked and valuable recommendations were made by the members of the jury - the faculty of the programme Elena Frolova, Natalia Davidson, Alexander Ishukov and Yana Lopatkova.
Through the prism of advanced statistical, econometric and case analysis, the speakers of the section raised topical issues of the world economy and international business. Young researchers analyzed the impact of geo-economic aspects on the processes of the global economy and business, assessed the consequences of sanctions on the financial industry, the aircraft industry, raised issues related to the development of the digital economy - studied the features of banking ecosystems, the integration of innovative solutions and end-to-end digital technologies. Participants also presented the results of a study on the transformation of cross-cultural aspects of international business, the impact of financial results on climate change and ESGranking.
According to the results of the jury voting, the prizes were distributed as follows:
1st place: Valentin Voitenkov, 4th year student, "ASSESSING THE RESILIENCE OF THE ISLAMIC STOCK MARKET TO EXTERNAL SHOCKS". The paper assesses the stability of the Islamic stock market to exogenous shocks using a vector autoregression model and building impulse response functions. Interesting data was obtained: Sharia indices are less resistant to economic and political uncertainty, while during periods of geopolitical turmoil, the stock market shows greater stability.
2nd place: Alina Urazbaeva, 4th year student, double degree programme with BS KEDGE (France), "Instruments of government policy in spurring nascent entrepreneurship: evidence from Asia-Pacific countries". The modeling results consist in the development of comprehensive measures, including administrative and financial support for business, taking into account the specifics of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, which is the foundation for a favorable investment and labor environment in the new geo-economic framework.
3rd place: Ivan Legkostupov, 3rd year student, ESG investing: the main features and limitations. The paper presents an assessment of the complex balance between the aspirations of the investment market to meet ESG criteria and the investment opportunities of companies when planning a development strategy.
The jury members also highly appreciated the reports: Ksenia Sharavina, 3rd year student, “Relationship between global economic turbulence and business financial performance” and Ekaterina Magon, 3rd year student, “Sustainable business strategies development: country and industry profiles”
Presented studies are recommended for publication, all participants will receive certificates. We wish you new victories and discoveries!
