PwC develops mentors competencies of UrFU case club team on “International Economics and Business”
12 students of bachelor programme "International Economics and Business" successfully completed the course of mentors - they took over the experience from the leaders of the UrFU case club, became mentors for teams of schoolchildren and 1st year students of the program at the case championship "World Games of Analysts", and also learned more about role of a mentor during visit to PwC Ekaterinburg office.
A mentor is a more experienced student who inspires, passes on his skills, shares experience, practical advice and helps the junior student (menti) develop. Thus, the menti gets access to new knowledge, a charge of motivation and self-confidence, because it is important that first-year students quickly adapt to the new university environment, successfully participate in events and projects for their professional development.
Our mentors: 2nd year students: Elena Marunyak, Helen Kirakosyan, Ksenia Chervyakova, Maxim Sokolov, Andrey Dostovalov, Lev Kolchin and 3rd year students: Veronika Sapogova, Anastasia Smirnova, Anna Lipatova, Vladimir Krutikov, Polina Tosova, Gleb Vakhrushev.
Elena Kabanova, Manager of the Corporate Services Department at PwC Ekaterinburg, invited a team of mentors and case championship winners to the company's office for an interactive tour with a master class "Mentor: how to achieve goals together with the team." Elena spoke about mentoring, the role of a mentor in a team, models and forms of support for real business projects and entrepreneurship. The event was also joined by Maxim Matsiborko, Managing Partner of PwC Ekaterinburg, who shared the features of the audit and consulting industry, working with data, and opportunities for development within this career track.
Vladimir Krutikov, 3rd year student of the programme, shared his impressions: The master class was incredible! Based on theory and practical experience, we were told about the role of a mentor in a team, we were given advice that can be applied in the future for managerial roles. During the conversation, we touched on such topics as auditing and building a future career, and also discussed several cases from audit practice. We were surprised by how working in audit requires immersion in business, understanding all business processes! In the end, it would be a crime not to mention the atmosphere itself: the office of the company is insanely beautiful! And the master class itself was built in the form of a dialogue - this format is one of the best, as it brings the speaker and the audience together.
