We share impressions and tell you what professional competencies the students have gained
As part of the cooperation between Graduate School of Economics and Management UrFU and Sberbank, students of the bachelor’s programme "International Economics and Business" visited the bank's central office. The career guidance event was held at the end of the course “Business Debt Settlement”. Students gained knowledge about the essence of distressed corporate debt, debt consolidation tools, as well as decision-making skills on choosing a settlement strategy based on real cases from top officials and bank experts.
“The knowledge that students of this course receive is universal and equally necessary for all participants in modern legal relations - both the debtor and the creditor. These skills will always contribute to resolving problem situations with minimal losses for all parties and building long-term partnerships. During the lectures, the students showed themselves as real leaders: they asked questions, actively participated in the discussions. It would be interesting for us to cooperate with the guys in the future as well!” Sergey Shalnev, Deputy Chairman of the Ural Bank, noted.
The students learned more about the digital, legal and ESG aspects of Ural Bank's activities. Future economists were told about the values and development strategy of Sber, its achievements and internationalization over the past few years. Also during the visit, company representatives shared relevant internship opportunities to start a career and invited them to participate in various programs for students.
“It was cool to try to dive into the “bankruptcy processes” from the side of the bank I especially liked the approach: the examples that we analyzed can help not only in working with individuals and legal entities, but also made it clear what needs to be done in everyday life so that "there are no problems". The tour showed that Sberbank is not just a company, it is a kind of “family” that helps not only during work activities, but also outside of them. So, I was interested in the project that they talked about “School 21” - a free school for programming from scratch,” shared Maria Konyukhova, a 2nd year student of the program “International Economics and Business”
"I was impressed by the actions of the Sber to support its employees in any endeavors, for example, a Gallery of Kindness, a tour of Russia on the walls of the office, a corporate gym. Most of all, I was interested in how many opportunities Sber offers for gaining knowledge, for example, the course " Business Debt Settlement ", which we successfully completed, the opportunities of SBERgraduates, and School 21, which I also now plan to attend," commented Andrey Dostovalov, a 3rd–year student of the International Economics and Business programme
The main part of the visit was the solemn awarding of course participants with certificates and memorable prizes with the participation of top managers of the bank.
Educational projects with business representatives are an integral part of the implementation of the International Economics and Business programme, helping students to directly learn about the features of future professions, providing confidence in employment, career and social self-realization.
