Students of the "Summer University" continue to get acquainted with the best practices of internationally oriented companies in the Urals
The day before, the participants of UrFU Summer University 2023 track "ESG Transformation and Digitalization of International Business", which is implemented by the faculty of bachelor’s programme "International Economics and Business" with the support of corporate partners, visited the headquarters of the Golden Apple perfume supermarket and went on a production tour to the Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant.
International teams of students got acquainted with the features of the business processes of a manufacturing company and a retail chain, learned how digital innovations are being introduced and saw how the system of social and environmental programs, economic and managerial decisions in various industries is built.
The creative workspaces of the headquarters of the "Golden Apple", unique recreation areas, and a garden pleasantly surprised the students.
"I've always wondered what my favorite cosmetics store lives on from the inside. I didn't expect to meet such a variety of natural textures and a real garden in their office! It's very cozy and inviting, although you don't get used to such an environment right away. In addition to the office, I was very impressed by corporate practices in the company - it is more pleasant to go to work when you realize that you are part of a single mission, that everyone shares similar values nearby, that an internal corporate party awaits you in an amazing office for the holidays," Maya Aliseiko, a student of the Belarusian State University, shared her impressions
During the visit of the Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant, the participants saw the full production cycle and its technological features, got acquainted with the social policy of the enterprise and were able to estimate the use of innovative solutions and ESG principles in the organization.
“It is very important to have an idea about the industrial sectors in the Union State and, in general, about industrial enterprises and their innovative technologies. We were introduced to the production process and the peculiarities of the metallurgical market. I was pleasantly surprised by the high-tech enterprise, concern for the environment and its employees,” commented Nadezhda Barseghyan, student of the Academy of Management under the President of the Republic of Belarus
“It is very informative to get to know how the production process takes place. We were told in detail how the selection of raw materials is carried out, how and at what temperature it is necessary to melt the metal, so that in the end the pipes correspond to the required indicators. We also got acquainted with the history of the enterprise. In addition, I would like to mention today's goals that the company sets for itself. Leading engineers are trying to create new ways to melt metal with a minimum release of toxic substances. Thus, we can say that the goals of sustainable development are paramount in the further development of the entire pipe and metallurgical industry,” added Alexey Smirnov, a 3rd year student of the educational program “International Economics and Business”, who joined the track as a volunteer of the international project.
