A presentation of the project for the GSEM UrFU building on the new campus took place
Today is marked not only by congratulations to students on “Tatiana’s Day,” but also by extensive media coverage of the project for the campus of the Graduate School of Economics and Management UrFU. The campus of the Ural Federal University in Novokoltsovsky is being created within the framework of the national project “Science and Universities”; the building of GSEM UrFU will become part of the second stage and will be commissioned in the 4th quarter of 2025.
General Director of the Sinara-Development-Project company Mikhail Uvarov said that the new space will comfortably accommodate 3,600 people. “All rooms will meet modern requirements of the educational process - transformable sites, convenient co-working spaces, the availability of engineering infrastructure for organizing a multifunctional space,” added Mikhail Uvarov.
The 5.77-hectare site will be developed by the Atomstroykompleks company. The area of our campus will be 35.9 thousand square meters. In addition to lecture halls and computer classes, GSEM UrFU building will contain functional areas - a canteen, a library with a collection of 36 thousand items, a large conference room, and an administrative block. The chief engineer of the project, Alina Gverzhis, emphasized that the objects located in Novokoltsovsky have external visual similarities and are united by a general concept, but inside they all have individuality. “Every centimeter has been deeply worked out with the future owners of the campus. We have implemented all the ideas that our colleagues from GSEM UrFU wanted to implement,” noted Alina Gverzhis.
Irina Marguzova, project architect from the R1 bureau, clearly showed important details and gave the press conference participants the first virtual tour. “There will be no “corridors and classrooms” in the building, but there will be spacious spaces - we left the auditorium and entered the atrium. Every student, including those with limited mobility, will be able to move comfortably in order to find a comfortable place for study, creativity and relaxation during breaks, before or after lectures,” said Irina Marguzova.
GSEM UrFU team took a non-standard approach to the task of designing a new space - even before the start of internal design, the management studied the best practices and algorithms for work on previously created successful campus facilities - in the country and abroad.
The campus will be comfortable not only for students, but also for teachers, researchers and administrative staff. The architects implemented the idea of creating a “Professor’s Club”, where a co-working space for employees will be located. The building provides a separate block for international group and individual work.
Director of GSEM UrFU Dmitry Tolmachev, who also headed the directorate for the development of the Novokoltsovsky campus, especially emphasized that for the university the point of creating a campus is to transfer competencies related to the digital economy to this site. “This infrastructure will work for all students who will receive digital competencies. There will be the core of an ecosystem of technological entrepreneurship, joint scientific, technological and educational projects with leading companies in the country. Further education programs will be partially implemented at the GSEM site in the center of Ekaterinburg (Gogolya, 25), and partially on the new campus,” said Dmitry Tolmachev.
We will continue to monitor the progress of the main university construction project and look forward to not only virtual, but also “live” excursions!
