IEB students contributed to the creation of a database of ESG projects of Russian municipalities on the instructions of Sberbank
In the autumn semester, the team of bachelor’s programme “International Economics and Business”, together with corporate partners, successfully implemented more than 15 projects in the educational process. External stakeholders offered creative and analytical assignments to student teams in a variety of areas of economics and business. Sberbank became one of the partners in the autumn semester project activities. Throughout the semester, teams of program students worked on an assignment from Sber related to ESG analytics of data from Russian municipalities. The guys analyzed more than 40 regions of Russia and more than 100 of their SDGs and ESG initiatives, obtaining an ESG database of projects of Russian municipalities.
Elena Moskvina, Manager of the Headquarters of the Chairman of PJSC Sberbank, customer of the project, shared:
“Sber has been systematically engaged in ESG transformation since 2020. Our main goal is to become a leader in systemic change in the field of ESG for the benefit of society and the environment, based on the commitment, cooperation and creativity of employees, clients, investors, shareholders, partners, communities and the state. As part of the project workshop, we invited students to analyze the involvement of Russian municipalities in the implementation of the ESG agenda. The teams did a lot of work to compile a database of ongoing social and environmental projects, as well as projects aimed at improving the efficiency of corporate governance of Russian cities and other municipalities. We thank the guys for the work they have done and look forward to further fruitful cooperation in the area of ESG.”
Project team students, as future economists, not only mastered the methods of analyzing ESG data, acquired the necessary theoretical and practical skills, but also increased their competitiveness in the labor market in the context of updating the sustainable development agenda.
