Professor of Škoda Auto University Emil Velinov held a guest lecture
On the eve 2nd year «International Economics and Business» students within the course «World Economy and International Economic Relations» took part in the online lecture «EU International Business Relations with China, African Union and Russia». The guest lecturer was и, Ph.D., Department of Management and Marketing of the Škoda Auto University. During his professional career, the professor has worked for several multinational corporations such as General Electric, Oracle and Hoerbiger, as well as project manager for small and medium-sized businesses and municipalities in Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Austria, Estonia, Bulgaria and Russia.
For the 2nd year students of the programme, this was the first guest lecture this academic year. Students' opinions about the effects of sanctions and the COVID pandemic on the global economy were divided, but the statistics presented gave the correct answers about the trends in economic growth and the dynamics of Russia-EU foreign economic activity. Student Sosa Gonzalo asked how economic and political freedoms are related when Russian-Chinese relations are discussed. The diplomatic answer was perhaps one example of international economic negotiation with the aim of effective international transactions.
Professor Elena Frolova, course «World Economy and International Economic Relations», shared her impressions of the guest lecture:
The countries of Europe consider the problems of the world economy, first of all, through the prism of the EU's relations with other countries and integration associations. Such topic was presented in the lecture, not only taking into account the publications available in Europe, but also the personal research of the lecturer Emil Velinov. An interesting form was the involvement of students in the discussion followed by comments.
Lectures and practice-oriented classes from the professors of the leading foreign universities are the essential part of the educational process on the EPAS EFMD "International Economics and Business" programme for the students of each year.
It should also be noted that this year a partnership agreement was signed between GSEM and Škoda Auto University. Now the students can participate in the joint international student exchange programme.
